Price range: 12.00$ through 20.00$

1st and 2nd year seedlings, *Sold in multiples of 2*

The Kentucky coffeetree is native to the midwest and eastern United States, especially around the Ohio and Mississippi River valleys. It withstands harsh urban conditions including pollution, salt, drought, heat, and poor and compacted soil. The large seeds were historically distributed by now-extinct herbivorous megafauna. They have an extremely hard seed coating which must be ground down or dissolved in acid before they will germinate. The Kentucky coffeetree today is primarily distributed by humans. Some people have also used the seeds as a food source, although they are toxic if not cooked properly.

This tree is a host of the unique Honey Locust Moth, which feeds almost exclusively on honey locust and kentucky coffeetree.
