About Mad Garden

Welcome to my Mad Garden!
A collection of genetically diverse, adaptive, and resilient local ecotype plants for the Northeast US and beyond. I grow and sell mostly native, mostly food-producing plants suitable for ecological restoration, food forests, low maintenance home gardens, and more.
The Mission of Mad Garden is to increase biodiversity in agricultural and home garden settings— because diversity is the source of all things weird, wonderful, and beautiful. I hope these offerings inspire you to create a landscape that is more wild, productive, ecological, and diverse.
About the Farm:
Mad Garden nursery and seed farm is located in Mercer county, NJ, also known as Lenapehoking or the ancestral land of the Lenape people.
About the Farmer:
My name is Devon Alieda Viola, and my favorite thing to do is collect and plant seeds. I started working on this project in 2023 because I needed to do something with all my trees, which were starting to take up a lot of space. I also needed an excuse to grow even more of them.
